The ERC held a week long course on Renewable Energy in Power Systems from 21st to 25th January, 2013. The course covered some of the following topics: Renewable Energy Characteristics, Flexibility, Networks, Grid Codes, Electricity Markets, Operational Security & Stability.
The course was lectured by both ERC academic and research staff (Prof Mark O’Malley, Dr Jody Dillon and Dr Terence O’Donnell) and members from industry including Dr Jonathan O’Sullivan and Dr Ivan Dudurych of EirGrid, and Dr Niamh Troy of ElectroRoute.
The course was attended by approximately 35 people including four international PhD students from DTU (Denmark) and VTT (Finland), ERC PhD students, post-doctoral researchers (UL and NUIM) and 12 industry practitioners (Bord Gáis Energy, EirGrid, Energia, Enterprise Ireland, ESBI, UTRC and CEPRI).
