Ronan Meere

Senior Researcher

Biography: Ronan graduated with B.E. and M.Eng.Sc (Research) degrees in Electronic Engineering from the National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland in 2003 and 2005 respectively. In 2010, he received a PhD in Microelectronic Engineering from the Microelectronic Engineering Department University College Cork, in conjunction with the Tyndall National Institute, Cork, Ireland. His doctoral research concentrated on the design and fabrication of planar integrated magnetics for use in low power dc/dc conversion applications. Part of the PhD study was undertaken at the NXP Semiconductors Research Laboratory, Eindhoven, the Netherlands. From February 2010 to August 2012 he was a Lecturer in Electronic Engineering at the Athlone Institute of Technology, Ireland. In September 2012 he joined the Electricity Research Centre as a Senior Researcher. His current research interests include HVDC transmission topologies and power electronics design and optimisation for future offshore wind farm development.

Ronan is funded by the programme for Research in Third-Level Institutions (PRTLI) Cycle 5 and co-funded under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
