Federico Milano

Associate Professor

Dr. Federico Milano has joined the ERC as Associate Professor in Power Systems Control and Protections in June 2013.

Dr. Milano received from the University of Genoa, Italy, the Electrical Engineer degree and the PhD in Electrical Engineering in 1999 and 2003, respectively. From 2001 to 2002, he was with the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department of the University of Waterloo, Canada, as a Visiting Scholar. From 2003 to 2013, he worked at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain.

Federico authored two books and over 50 academic papers. He has developed widely used software tools for power system education and research and he is currently chair of the IEEE PES Task Force on Free & Open Source Software. He is also editor of four international journals, including the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems.

He has collaborated with several research groups in North America, Europe and Asia, and acted as technical consultant for several European companies.

His current teaching and research interests are power systems modelling, control and stability analysis.
