Our annual showcase event held on May 9th, 2013 was opened by Fergus O’Dowd, Minister of State at the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources and was followed by presentations on our collaborative research with industry partners based around our strategic research themes. Industry members presenting included: Bord Gáis, ESB Networks, Siemens, EirGrid, SSE Renewables, Gaelectric, ElectroRoute and Cylon. Our international collaboration session included presentations from Prof Henrik Madsen of Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Dr Dana Christensen of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Prof Janusz Bialek of Durham University. PhD students Muireann Lynch and Sheila Nolan both won joint first place for best poster for their respective posters titled “Risk-return incentives in liberalised electricity markets” and “Evaluating Demand Response”.
